So, even though I knew I'd get drenched and run club tonight, I gleefully donned my running clothes when I got home from work to head down to the store. I was going to do hill training tonight to catch up on the hills that I had missed during the snow, but a friend of mine said she would come along on one condition - if we didn't do hills. Hmm, friend along or hills? I decided to ditch the hills so my friend could come along.
Anyhow, we decided about 5 km would be a nice little evening run so when they announced all of the groups going out we figured out who was going about that far and latched onto their group. Turns out I knew the instructor from previous race teams so that was good, he was happy to have us along for the ride.
However, he still felt the sidewalks were a bit too slick so he decided to run us 5 km around the mall parking lot. Bit of a downer, but I wasn't feeling terribly ambitious last night anyways, so we headed out. I discovered on New Years Day that the mall parking lot is really big! Boring, but big and safe. It was a nice little run and I was happy because I even met a new bun on the run - there is a lady in that clinic who is 4 months pregnant so it was nice to talk with someone else who is running through their pregnancy.
She commented on how hard it is to find maternity running clothes (like not just yoga clothes, but actual dri-fit type running clothing) so that sounds like it will be a challenge. If you know of any good sources, let me know.
Anyhow, we ended up running the following:
- Total distance: 4.31 km
- Total time: 31:25
- Average pace: 7:17/km
I'm not sure if I was just tired or if I really am starting to slow down already, but sadly I was pretty pooped after running last night. I'm planning to head down to run club for our long slow run this Sunday so that should be a good indicator of how I'm doing these days.
Anyhow, now I'm trying to choke down some breakfast and get out the door to work - have a great day everyone!

Yay. Another preggers runner! We rule!
don't be hard on yourself for being tired... your body is adjusting -- awesome that you're getting out there! :0)
You're doing great. No worries on the slower time. You're body is working super hard right now to make organs and stuff. That's exhausting, you know. :)
Slower is better and don't forget your 10:1's! That'll help. If you need to walk, then walk...as long as your moving forward! LOL.
Don't know about maturnity running clothes, but hey, it sounds like there is a good market out there!! Maybe think about talking to some of the clothing folks and you could end up with a new career!!
